Using the website
Finding information on the website
You can always get back to the startpage by clicking on our logotype or on the link Startpage, on the left.

Listen
It is possible to listen to our website. By clicking on "Listen" at the top of the page you open up a new window where the page will be read for you. This works best on pages in Swedish and English.
Web browsers, JavaScript and File Formats
Our website functions in most modern web browsers, which support the standards set by W3C. The pages work with most operating systems. If a visitor uses a web browser which does not fulfil the W3C standards, the page will still be readable.
However, if you wish to submit an online application, your web browser must support JavaScript.
Our online application services for entry visas and first-time applications for residence permits for university studies require cookies to function.
Our online application services for work permit, extension of permits for studies and registration of right of residence demand that you must use Internet Explorer 5.0 for PC (or any later version).
Attachments must be of specific formats, which are listed in connection to the application services.
All other pages work without JavaScript.

Links to other websites open up a new window. Also, Lifos (the Migration Board's system for country of origin information) and our electronic application services are opened in new windows, as well as files in pdf, Word etc.

Security
To protect your privacy, we have physical and electronic protection of our e-services that meet safety requirements. But if you are using a public computer, for instance at a library or an internet cafe, you should be extra careful because you do not know what is installed on the computer. You do not know, for example, if the computer has a functioning and updated virus protection. It is also important that you close the browser when you finish the application and leave the computer.

Error message about our certificate
Some browsers do not recognize the Migration Board's security certificate and give a message that says that the connection is not secure. This is not the case. If you get this message, please ignore it.
