Information for employers

If you want to employ a person who is a citizen of a country outside the EU, he or she must in most cases have a work permit to work in Sweden.
These pages explain how to find information about what is required in order for you to be able to employ someone from a country outside the EU, and what you need to do so that the person you employ can obtain a work permit.

The rules for how you employ a person from a country outside the EU are on the page Persons from countries outside the EU.

There are specific rules for certain groups, and these have their own pages in the left menu.

In addition, there are stricter inspections for all newly started businesses and for applications that regard work in the following industries: cleaning, hotels, restaurants, construction, services, staffing, agriculture, forestry, trading and automobile repairs.

Stricter requirements for employers

As from 16 January, 2012, employers in certain industries will face more stringent requirements, as will all newly started businesses.
