Marium chose to study here

"I went to a highly respected convent school in Pakistan and was thinking of a future in social work. But fate decided otherwise and I became more and more interested in working with computers."

"After completing our first degrees in Pakistan, my husband and I wanted to go abroad to study at a higher level. We chose Sweden because it has one of the world's best master's programmes in software engineering, with research opportunities to match. Another reason was that the programme in Sweden is free of charge for foreign students."

"I will soon complete my training, and in the three years we have been in Sweden we have had a son, so we are now a small family. We would like to live and work in Sweden as we are happy here. We feel that people here are honest and helpful," says Marium.

14.188 people were granted residence permits for studies in 2010 and 1,427 of them were Pakistani citizens.
