Waiting time for a decision

Complete electronic application


It is important that you and your employer complete all information in the electronic application form and send us all documents needed to get a quick decision. You will also get a decision faster if the employer sends us a comment from the relevant trade union.

Right now the workload is high and the waiting time for a decision is about six months.

The fastest way to get a decision from the Migration Board is to apply online.

If you apply with a complete form

The waiting time is currently about six to seven months for both first time applications and extensions.

If you need to complete your application


If you need to complete your application the application will take longer to process.

If you apply for priority


The applications for residence permits are dealt with in application date order. In prinicple we do not grant priority.

Self-employed


The waiting time is about ten months when you apply for a residence permit as a self-employed.
 
If you apply for a permanent residence permit, the waiting time is about ten months.
