If you are a Swedish citizen

If you are a Swedish citizen and wish to leave Sweden, you must contact the authorities in the country you are interested in moving to or visiting.
You can start by contacting the country's closest embassy to get more information on the country, the labour market, the housing situation, and the laws and rules.

The new country is the one that will decide if you can reside there, and which permits are needed for you to be able to move.

The Migration Board cannot help you if you are thinking of leaving Sweden, but you will find more information from other authorities in the links on the right.

You cannot lose your Swedish citizenship because you have moved out of Sweden.
