Rejection of Swedish citizenship
If the Swedish Migration Board rejects your application for Swedish citizenship you are given the possibilitie to appeal the decision. How it is done
- Write which decision you want to appeal and how you want it changed.
- Write your name, personal number, address and phone number.
- Sign the letter with your name. If you have given power of attorney (and thus the right to represent you) to someone, that person can write the appeal for you. The person who represents you must attach the authorization.
- Send the appeal to Migrationsverket, Medborgarskapsenheten, 601 70 Norrköping.
The appeal must be sent to the Migration Board within three weeks of the date you were given the decision.The Swedish Migration Board will submit the appeal to the Administrative Court in Malmö, the Migration Court, if the Migration Board does not change its decision the way you want.
Citizens of the Nordic countries
If you are a citizen of Denmark, Finland, Iceland or Norway and has made a notification for Swedish citizenship to County Administrative Board and want to appeal, you should submit your appeal to the County Administrative Board.
