International Organisation for Migration
IOM is a strategically important organisation to the Migration Board. The organisation carries out a wide range of activities including the transport of returning refugees and migrants, conflict prevention measures, programmes to combat human trafficking and humanitarian works.
During 2009/2010, the Migration Board entered into several new agreements with IOM regarding initiatives relating to returns.
Since 2008 annual bilateral meetings are held with IOM and the Swedish Migration Board. Support in issues related to returns and practical cooperation on resettlement of quota refugees are priorities.
