Country of origin information, Lifos

When the Swedish Migration Board's case officers and policy makers determine which applicants are to be granted a residence permit or citizenship, they base their decisions on the applicant's details and on their knowledge of the conditions in the applicant's country of origin.
Lifos is the Swedish Migration Board's database for legal and country of origin information.

Lifos contains information on the conditions in the countries the applicant comes from along with judicial rulings. Lifos also contains judgments from the Migration Court of Appeal. Older decisions from the previous Alien's Appeals Board and the Government are also included.

Lifos is primarily an important work tool for the Board's own staff, and is designed to give case officers and policy makers a good platform to take legally sound decisions within specified time-frames.

A large part of the material in Lifos is also available on the Internet to increase transparency and availability.
