Payment

To make an electronic application or registration, you need to send in all supplements needed at the same time.

Who needs to pay an application fee?

An EU/EEA-residents in Sweden and their family members who register their right to reside do not have to pay an application fee.

Most other applicants have to pay an application fee when applying for work permit or residence permit. The fee is SEK 1000 for adults and SEK 500 for children under the age of 18.

Exceptions:

  • Citizens of Japan
  • Students at the World Maritime University in Malmö
  • Students who have been awarded scholarships by SIDA or other Swedish or international organisations such as the EU or UNICEF.

The fee will not be refunded, regardless of whether your application is granted or rejected.

Pay directly

If you apply on our website you must pay the fee at the same time as you apply. You cannot pay afterwards.

You can pay via a credit card. We accept the following cards:

  • VISA and MasterCard.
You can also pay directly from an account at one of the following Swedish banks via their Internet service:
  • Nordea and SEB
You cannot submit your application if you do not pay the application fee.

All information is transferred through encrypted lines. DIBS Payment Services AB handles this service.

Problems paying with credit cards
Some applicants have met problems when trying to pay their application fees with a credit card and have instead received an error message with technical information.

The reason for this is that they have a credit card connected to the 3D-Secure service. Such cards must be verified before a payment can be registered. In certain cases the communication between the card issuer and the bank does not function when the card has to be verified.

These problems occur outside the Migration Board's IT systems, so therefore we cannot help you with this. Please contact your bank if you meet problems using your card.
