Supplements

The waiting time can be longer if the Migration Board needs to check your documents with assistance of the Swedish Mission Abroad.

Here is a list of the documents needed:

Work permit — citizens if countries outside the EU/EEA

Employees - first time applicants

• copies of the pages of your passport that show your identity, citizenship and the validity period of your passport
• copies of accompanying family members passports. The copies must show identity, citizenship and the validity period of their passport
• a job offer in Sweden. There is a special form for offer of employment in Sweden (form 232011), that your employer can get via the Migration Boards website.

Employees — extension

• copies of the pages of your passport that show your identity, citizenship and the validity period of your passport
• copies of accompanying family members passports. The copies must show identity, citizenship and the validity period of their passport
• a job offer in Sweden. There is a special form for offer of employment in Sweden (form 232011), that your employer can get via the Migration Boards website.

Au pair

• copies of the pages of your passport that show your identity, citizenship and the validity period of your passport
• copies of accompanying family members passports. The copies must show identity, citizenship and the validity period of their passport
• a written invitation from your host family in Sweden stating the terms and conditions of your employment as an au pair
• a certificate of admission to the course of Swedish study concerned.

Visiting researcher — first time applicants

• copies of the pages of your passport that show your identity, citizenship and the validity period of your passport
• copies of accompanying family members passports. The copies must show identity, citizenship and the validity period of their passport
• a hosting agreement with an approved research organisation. Use form no 231011. Attach the hosting agreement as a supplement to the offer of employment.

Visiting researcher — extension

• copies of the pages of your passport that show your identity, citizenship and the validity period of your passport
• copies of accompanying family members passports. The copies must show identity, citizenship and the validity period of their passport

Sportsmen/sportswomen/coaches — first time applicants

• a contract with information on salary and for what time the contract is valid. The contract must be signed both by you and by your club in Sweden.

Sportsmen/sportswomen/coaches — extensions

• copies of accompanying family members passports. The copies must show identity, citizenship and the validity period of their passport
• a contract with information on salary and for what time the contract is valid. The contract must be signed both by you and by your club in Sweden.

EU/EEA-citizens, right of residence

Employees

• copy of passport or national identity card. Copies of passport must show your identity, citizenship and the validity period of your passport. Copies of national identity card must show which country has issued the identity card, the identity card number and the validity period
• certificate of employment. You can use the migration Boards form Employment certificate for EU/EEA-citizens, no 227021. Then we get all information needed.

If you have accompanying family members that are citizens of an EU/EEA-country, you must also attach the following supplements:

Husband, wife, registered partner or common law spouse

• copy of your family members passport or national identity card. Copies of passport must show your identity, citizenship and the validity period of your passport. Copies of national identity card must show which country has issued the identity card, the identity card number and the validity period
• civil registration certificate, for example a birth certificate.

For children under the age of 21

• copy of passport or national identity card. Copies of passport/id-card must show identity, citizenship and the validity period of the passport
• civil registration certificate, for example a birth certificate.

Self-employed

• copy of passport or national identity card. Copies of passport must show your identity, citizenship and the validity period of your passport. Copies of national identity card must show which country has issued the identity card, the identity card number and the validity period.
• documents showing that you are self-employed (registration certificate or similar).

Husband, wife, registered partner or common law spouse

• civil registration certificate, for example a birth certificate.

For children under the age of 21

• civil registration certificate, for example a birth certificate.

Provider of a service

• copy of passport or national identity card. Copies of passport must show your identity, citizenship and the validity period of your passport. Copies of national identity card must show which country has issued the identity card, the identity card number and the validity period
• a certificate, agreement or similar document that states the type of service in question and how long you will offer that service, for example an agreement or contract.
