Moving to someone in Sweden

This guide provides information for anyone wishing to move to Sweden to live with a close relative. The following individuals are classified as close relatives:

• your wife, husband, registered partner or common-law spouse
• a person whom you plan to marry or cohabit with
• your parents
• your children.

Requirement to prove identity of relatives

Relatives who are applying for a residence permit in Sweden must prove their identity. In order to show what this requirement involves, the Migration Board has compiled questions and answers regarding this.  The basis is that the Migration Board will take account of all evidence when the Board comes to decide whether the applicant has proved his or her identity.
