Migration to Sweden
People move between different countries in the world. Every day, thousands of people take the decision to move. Some are forced to flee from persecution while others move voluntarily. This might be to start a family, work or study in another country.
Each year, many people move to Sweden for various different reasons. The most common reason is that they have close family ties in the country, but there are several grounds on which people can be granted a residence permit in Sweden.
Each person who migrates has their own unique story. The Swedish Migration Agency has undertaken an initiative entitled MigTalks (2016-2017) where we have met the people behind the numbers and listened to their stories. You can read some of these on the following pages.
