Swedish citizenship for Nordic citizens
Special rules apply to Nordic citizens wishing to become Swedish citizens.
If you are a citizen of Denmark, Finland, Iceland or Norway and have lived in Sweden for at least five years, you can, in many cases, become a Swedish citizen through notification. This is a simpler – and cheaper – method of becoming a citizen.
How to submit a notification for Swedish citizenship
If you do not fulfil the conditions for submitting notification, you can instead submit an application for citizenship. To do this, it is sufficient that you have lived in Sweden for two years.
How to submit an application for Swedish citizenship
Special rules apply to Nordic children who apply on their own and young adults between 18 and 21.
