Close relatives of earlier asylum seekers can apply online for a residence permit extension
Anhöriga till tidigare asylsökande kan ansöka om förlängt uppehållstillstånd på webben – engelska
Everyone who has a temporary residence permit according to the temporary law can now apply online for a residence permit extension. This applies to both those who applied for asylum and their family members.
Three months before your residence permit expires, you will receive a letter with instructions on how to apply. The letter includes a personal code that you need to apply online. In the online application, you enter your personal code and your case number (which you find on the decision and letter from the Swedish Migration Agency) and then mark why you want to stay in Sweden. It only takes a few minutes to apply online, and can be done from a smartphone, tablet or computer.
All appendices must be sent to the Swedish Migration Agency in the post. Which appendices you should send in depends on why you want to stay in Sweden.
Some must apply by post
Unfortunately, we cannot give you a code for the online application if your current residence permit expires before 1 October. Instead, you must submit your application for an extension by post. If your current permit expires on the 1 October or later you will receive a letter with a code.
