Reduced number of places to apply due to fewer applications for asylum in Sweden
Starting 1 of February, those who want to apply for asylum in Sweden for the first time must come to the Application Unit in Stockholm, Gothenburg or Malmö.
Fewer people are seeking asylum in Sweden currently, and most applicants already submit their asylum application in one of our large metropolitan areas: Stockholm, Gothenburg or Malmö. The Swedish Migration Agency now wants to make the application process more efficient by accepting new asylum applications at only these three locations.
Unaccompanied children can come to additional locations of the Swedish Migration Agency to have their asylum applications registered. The same is true for those who want to apply for an extension of their asylum-based residence permits.
Asylum-seeking parents who want to register their newborn children should contact their Reception Unit.
