When you have received a decision on your asylum application

When the Swedish Migration Agency has made a decision on your asylum application, you will be called to a meeting at the reception unit. At the meeting you will be informed about the decision and what it entails for you.

If your application for asylum is approved you will receive a residence permit and you will have the right to live and work in Sweden.

If your application for asylum is refused (“avslag”), it means that the Swedish Migration Agency does not think you have a strong enough reason to stay in Sweden. If your application is refused you have two choices: you can accept the decision and return to where you came from, or appeal the decision.
