Your personal data will be registered in an EU-wide database
Everyone who applies for protection under the Temporary Protection Directive is entitled to help with housing and financial assistance from the Swedish Migration Agency. To ensure that a person can only benefit from the right to financial assistance in one country, the EU countries have created a common database to share information about people who are granted residence permits under the Temporary Protection Directive.
On 1 December, the Swedish Migration Agency will start uploading the personal data of everyone who has been granted a residence permit under the Temporary Protection Directive. This includes people who were granted such a residence permit before 1 December.
When we upload your personal data to the database, we will be able to see if you have already been granted a residence permit in another EU country. The authorities in that country will receive information about the fact that you have been granted a residence permit in Sweden, and will then stop providing you with financial assistance. Similarly, the Swedish Migration Agency can stop providing you with housing or financial assistance if you are granted protection under the Temporary Protection Directive in another EU country.
