Apply for extended protection between 29 January and 4 March

If you have a residence permit under the Temporary Protection Directive that expires on 4 March 2024, you can apply for an extended residence permit from Monday 29 January.

The e‑service to apply for extended protection under the Temporary Protection Directive is open between 29 January and 4 March 2024. If you want to stay in Sweden and your residence permit expires on 4 March 2024, you must apply for extended protection at the latest on 4 March.

After you have submitted an application, every applicant must visit the Swedish Migration Agency to be photographed and provide fingerprints for your new residence permit cards. You can visit the Swedish Migration Agency from 5 February until 26 April. You will book an appointment for this visit in the e‑service for application. When you have made an appointment and submitted your application in the e-service you have applied in time, even if your appointment to be fingerprinted and photographed takes place after 4 March.

  • Linköping, National Government Service Centre (Statens servicecenter).

Please note that in Linköping and Visby the Migration Agency staff will help you at the National Government Service Centre (SSC). The address will be noted in your booking confirmation.

If you need financial help to travel to the Swedish Migration Agency, you must contact your Unit for Reception. You can book an appointment in any location you want, but you can only receive financial support to travel to the location closest to where you live.
