Migration services at the Swedish embassy in Islamabad
Currently, the embassy of Sweden in Islamabad is closed for external visitors. The Migration Section is currently unable to handle any issues requiring a visit by applicants. It is currently not known when migration activities at the embassy can be resumed.
Information that the embassy in Islamabad will be closed for the rest of the year has been spread in various media. The embassy remains open, but at the moment visitors cannot be received, which has consequences for migration activities, including for Pakistani citizens applying for resident permits for studies in Sweden. For students and other Pakistani citizens who want to come to Sweden from Pakistan, the embassy cannot assist with handling UT-cards, passport control, interviews or other migration matters.
The Swedish Migration Agency is working to find alternatives for Pakistani students starting the semester this fall. The Swedish Migration Agency will, as soon as possible, provide more detailed information about what will apply for Pakistani students admitted to study at Swedish universities for the autumn semester 2023.
It is currently not possible to give information about when migration activities at the embassy in Islamabad can be resumed, but the embassy will not be able to handle Pakistani students before the start of the fall semester in 2023.
The Migration Section of the embassy is not able to provide individual responses to inquiries in migration cases by email or telephone.
