Apply

You apply using the e-service. You do not need to attach any documents or passport copies.

Requirements for applying in the e-service

To be able to apply in the e-service, you must have:

  • bank-id or an email address
  • a mobile phone
  • the case number for every person you are applying for.

If you are simultaneously applying for an extension of the residence permit for your family, you can add:

  • up to two co-applying adult family members.
  • up to ten children under the age of 18 for whom you are the parent/legal guardian.

If the family consists of more people than this, you will need to submit multiple applications. Each person can only make one application in the e-service.

Children can only be co-applicants with their own parents/legal guardians. Children without a parent/legal guardian can use the e-service themselves and should apply only for themselves, not together with others. The child's guardian does not need to confirm the application.

The application opens 28 January 2026.

You can log in to the e-service using bank-id or with an account.

If you have bank-id

Log in and apply via the Mobile BankID or BankID buttons under the heading E-identification. You can do this even if you created an account and password the last time you applied.

If you do not have bank-id

If you do not have bank-id, you log in via the Username and password button under the heading Account. You log in to the account with a username (your email address) and a password, as well as a code that is sent to your mobile phone every time you wish to log in.

If you have previously applied in the e-service, you must log in with the same username (your email address), password, and mobile phone number as you used then.

If you no longer have the same mobile phone number, you need to call the Swedish Migration Agency's technical support, which will help you by updating the number or deleting your old account. You can also choose to create a new account with a different email address and your new mobile phone number.
