Requirements for applying in the e-service

To apply in the e-service, you must

be 18 years or older
have a valid email address
be able to pay the application fee with a payment card issued by Visa or Mastercard
be able to scan or photograph the documents you need to attach.

What does it cost to apply?

Adults: SEK 1,500
Children under 18 years of age: SEK 750

You will not receive a refund if your application is rejected.

The following people pay no fee to apply:

students at the World Maritime University (WMU) in Malmö
Japanese citizens
students who have received a scholarship for studies in Sweden from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), the EU, the Swedish Institute, or Uppsala University’s International Science Programme. The scholarship must be intended to be used for living expenses and not just cover tuition fees. The scholarship must be paid out during the period for which you are applying for a residence permit. The exception does not apply if you receive a salary, for example if you are employed as a doctoral student.

If you cannot apply in the e-service, you must fill in the form:

Submit the application

You can either submit the application and the attached documents at one of the Swedish Migration Agency’s service centres or send them to:

Pay the application fee

If you submit your application at one of the Swedish Migration Agency’s service centres, you will pay the fee there.

If you submit your application by post, you pay the fee via bank account number 5223-7005. The IBAN account number is SE6912000000012810106908 and the BIC/SWIFT code is DABASESX (Danske Bank). In the box “Message to payment recipient” you will write the first and last name of the person that the application fee is for as well as their national ID number and/or file number. If you are paying the fee for several people at the same time, you will provide all the national ID numbers and/or file numbers.
