New median salary affects the salary requirement for work permits
Statistics Sweden (SCB) has now updated the median salary in Sweden, which affects the salary requirement for work permits. As of 16 June, the median salary is SEK 38,300, which means a monthly salary/wages of at least SEK 34,470 is required (90 per cent of the median salary).
Every year, Statistics Sweden (SCB) updates the median salary in Sweden, i.e. the middle wage in a group of wages sorted in order from the lowest to the highest. As of 16 June, the median salary is SEK 38,300.
One of the requirements for getting a work permit in Sweden is that the employment must meet the salary requirement. This means that the employee must have a monthly salary/wages of at least 90 per cent of the median salary that was published by Statistics Sweden (SCB).
It is the median salary published at the time of application that counts. Applications for work permits received by the Swedish Migration Agency from 16 June must therefore meet the new level of at least SEK 34,470 per month, in order to meet the salary requirement.
Applications received by the Swedish Migration Agency before 16 June will be considered on the basis of the median salary that applied at the time of application.
