Once you have lived in Sweden (with a residence permit) for at least three years, you can apply for a permanent residence permit. You apply for your permanent residence permit when you apply for an extension of your current permit. Keep in mind that you cannot apply for an extension more than 30 days before your current permit will expire.

In order to be granted a permanent residence permit, you must meet the requirements for an extended residence permit, be able to support yourself financially, and live a well-behaved life.
