Read about how to appeal in the decision
In the decision you have received from the Swedish Migration Agency, you can see if it is possible to appeal and how you can do so. Keep in mind that you must submit your appeal within a certain period of time. The length of time you have is also stated in the appendix to the decision.

Write an appeal
Your appeal must be in writing, and it should include:
- which decision you want to appeal
- why you think the decision is wrong
- how you think the decision should be changed
- your name, personal identity number or date of birth, case number, postal address, telephone number, and email address, so that the court can reach you.

Submit your appeal to the Swedish Migration Agency
Send your appeal to the Swedish Migration Agency by post to the address stated in the decision, or submit it at one of our service centres. If you have a public counsel with a digital appointment, they can submit the appeal via the Biträdessidan e-service.
You can attach documents or other information that you would like to submit in support of your appeal. You do not need to include documents that you have already sent to the Swedish Migration Agency, as we already have these and will send them to the court together with your appeal.

The Swedish Migration Agency submits the appeal to a higher authority
Once your appeal is received by the Swedish Migration Agency, we will check whether it has been received in time and whether our decision should be changed. If we believe that the decision should be changed, we will write a new decision.
If the appeal has been received in time, we will forward it to the authority that will examine it. This will be either the Migration Court or the Administrative Court. In some rare cases, the appeal is examined by the Government. If we have assessed that the decision should be changed, we will also forward the new decision.
If the appeal has been received late, it will be dismissed by the Swedish Migration Agency.

If you want to appeal the court’s decision
If you are dissatisfied with the decision of the Migration Court or Administrative Court, you can appeal it.
