You apply and book an appointment
E-service:
If you apply via the e-service, we will contact you with information on how to provide fingerprints and be photographed.
Paper form:
If you apply using a paper form, fill in the form and send it to the Swedish Migration Agency. We will contact you with information on how to provide fingerprints and be photographed.

You are photographed and fingerprinted
To get an alien’s passports, you must visit us in person to be photographed and fingerprinted. When your application has been registered, you will receive information about when to book an appointment for photography and fingerprinting.
Children must be accompanied by a parent/legal guardian or guardian. If you would prefer to pick up your alien’s passport at a location other than where you will be photographed, please let us know during your visit.

The Swedish Migration Agency processes the application
The Swedish Migration Agency reviews all the information in your application. We will contact you if we need more information.

You receive our decision
Once our decision is ready, we will send it to you by post. It can then take up to 14 days before you can collect your passport. We will send you a letter when it is time to pick it up.

Pick up your new passport
When your passport is ready, you will receive a letter informing you where you will be able to collect it. You will see on My page when your passport is available. You do not need to book an appointment to collect your passport at the National Government Service Centre. If you are collecting your passport at the Swedish Migration Agency, we will send you a booked appointment.
