If you have a residence permit in Sweden, you can apply for an alien’s passport.
Some examples of when you can get an alien’s passport:
- You have a residence permit in Sweden because you have grounds for protection from the national authorities in your country of origin, and this makes it impossible for you to travel there to get a passport.
- You are a citizen of a country whose passport is not approved in Sweden.
- You are unable to obtain a passport from the authorities in your country of origin.
If you have been granted a refugee status declaration or are a stateless person, you can apply for a travel document instead of an alien’s passport.
