After the decision
The Swedish Migration Agency will send you the decision. If you have become a Swedish citizen and want to apply for a Swedish passport, you should contact the police.
When the Swedish Migration Agency assesses your application to regain Swedish citizenship, and thereby EU citizenship, we take into account your individual situation and that of your family. We investigate the consequences of the loss of Swedish citizenship from an EU law perspective. For example, your family might be split up if you can no longer stay in a country once you are no longer an EU citizen. We base our assessment on what your situation was like up until your 22nd birthday. The EU law perspective is relevant if you lost your Swedish citizenship after 1 January 1995, the date on which Sweden joined the EU.
You can submit your application once you have turned 22. If the Swedish Migration Agency decides to regain your Swedish citizenship, the decision will take effect from your 22nd birthday.
