If you have a Schengen visa, you can apply for an extended Schengen visa in certain special cases. Your total stay in the Schengen countries may not exceed 90 days in any 180-day period.
Unless you have special grounds, you cannot extend your entry visa.
You can get an extended Schengen visa
- in case of force majeure – unforeseen events that prevent you from leaving Sweden and the Schengen countries, such as extremely bad weather
- if there are humanitarian grounds – for example, if you, or a close relative of yours who lives in Sweden, is affected by an acute serious illness
- if you have strong personal reasons – for example, medical care or a business trip.
The reason why you need to extend your entry visa must have arisen after you entered Sweden. You must apply for an extension before your entry visa expires. You should do this as soon as possible, so that the Swedish Migration Agency has time to make a decision before your entry visa expires.
