New median salary affects one of the requirements for a work permit

Statistics Sweden (SCB) has now updated the median salary in Sweden, which affects one of the requirements for a work permit. As of 17 June, the median salary is SEK 37,100, which means a monthly salary/wages of at least SEK 29,680 is required.

Every year, Statistics Sweden (SCB) updates the median salary in Sweden, i.e. the middle wage in a group of wages sorted in order from the lowest to the highest. As of 17 June, the median salary is SEK 37,100.

One of the requirements for getting a work permit in Sweden is that the employment must enable the employee to make a good living. This means that the employee must have a monthly salary/wages of at least 80 per cent of the median salary that was published by Statistics Sweden (SCB).

It is the median salary published at the time of application that counts. Applications for work permits received by the Swedish Migration Agency from 17 June must therefore meet the new level of at least SEK 29,680 per month, in order to meet the requirement of a good living.

Applications received by the Swedish Migration Agency before 17 June will be considered on the basis of the median salary that applied at the time of application.
