If you need to apply for a visa, you can now do so in Islamabad

As of 7 July, you can apply for a Schengen visa in Pakistan for short visits to Sweden by submitting your application in Islamabad.

If you are a Pakistani citizen or resident in Pakistan and will be visiting Sweden for a short period of time, you can submit your application for a Schengen visa in the Pakistani capital Islamabad from 7 July. This applies to the application for a visa for those who want to visit Sweden for up to 90 days.

The application is handled by the external provider VFS Global in Islamabad. Please contact the provider in Islamabad and make an appointment to submit your application. If you have any other questions about appointments and documents, you can also contact VFS Global in Islamabad.

As before, you can also submit your Schengen visa application at VFS Global in Bangkok, Yangon, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Manila, Cebu, Jakarta, Bali, Phnom Penh, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Tokyo or Seoul.

Regardless of where you submit your application, it is important that you submit it well in advance of your planned trip to Sweden, but no earlier than 6 months before your planned entry. You cannot enter Sweden until you have a valid visa.

If you are going to work, study or move to someone in Sweden

Since April this year, the Swedish Migration Agency has opened its residence and work permit operations in Pakistan.

If you have applied to work, study or move to a family member in Sweden, you must visit the embassy in Islamabad for processing of your case. This applies to those who are a Pakistani citizens or residents in Pakistan and who have been asked by the Swedish Migration Agency to visit a Swedish embassy for an interview, passport control or to give fingerprints and be photographed.
