Higher income requirements for elite athletes and coaches

As of today, 1 September, new rules apply to people seeking a work permit as a professional athlete or coach. The rules have been developed in collaboration with the Swedish Sports Confederation.

If you come to Sweden to work as an elite athlete or coach, you must be able to support yourself financially. The income requirement has now been increased, and the required salary is based on the price base amount. This means an increase of SEK 5,300 per month, from SEK 14,300 to SEK 19,600.

The purpose of the change is to ensure that the conditions correspond to what is a normal income in the labour market.
