The Migration Agency’s drop-in service closes on 1 January

On 1 January, the Swedish Migration Agency’s service centre will close for drop-in visits. If you have any questions about your case, please contact the Swedish Migration Agency by telephone or via My page. For guidance and assistance with your application, or with using the Swedish Migration Agency’s digital services, please visit the National Government Service Centre.

The Swedish Migration Agency will close its own service centres in Boden, Gothenburg, Malmö, Norrköping, Stockholm/Sundbyberg, Växjö, Västerås, Umeå, Sundsvall and Örebro for drop-in visits on 1 January 2026.

This means that from January 2026, you will need to have a booked appointment or have received a summons for a personal visit to the Swedish Migration Agency. Your summons will state which office you should visit.

Visit the National Government Service Centre

You can visit some of the National Government Service Centre’s to get help and guidance on using the Migration Agency's digital services and filling in your application. At the service office, you can also collect alien's passports, travel documents or residence permit cards that cannot be delivered to your home address.

At the request of the Swedish Migration Agency, you can book an appointment at a service office to

  • have your fingerprints taken and be photographed
  • have your documents checked (show your passport, national ID card or EC/EU residence permit card).

Not all service offices offer the Swedish Migration Agency’s services. You can see which service offices you can contact on the National Government Service Centre’s website. Remember to bring identification with you when you visit a service office.

If we need to contact you in person, we will send you a summons.

For asylum seekers

If you want to apply for asylum, you must contact the Swedish Migration Agency.

If you have already applied for asylum, please contact the Unit for Reception and Unit for Return where you are registered. Your welcome letter states which unit you are registered with. If you no longer have your welcome letter, please feel free to call us.
