Now you can apply for the increased repatriation grant

People who have received a residence permit in Sweden on grounds of protection needs and want to repatriate can apply for the increased repatriation grant from today, 1 January 2026. Family members can also receive the grant if they meet certain requirements.

The repatriation grant is a financial grant that can help those who want to move back to their home country or another country where they have the right to live. To be able to receive the grant, you must be resident in Sweden and have received a residence permit on grounds of protection needs before 24 September 2024. If you are a family member of someone who can apply for a repatriation grant, you can also receive a grant if you meet certain requirements.

As of today, 1 January 2026, the grant will be higher. The amount of money you can receive depends on whether you apply as a single adult, as a couple, or as a family with children.

How much you can receive as a repatriation grant

The repatriation grant is up to 350,000 SEK per adult and 25,000 SEK per child.

Spouses or cohabiting partners can receive a maximum of 500,000 SEK together.

A household with adults and children can receive a maximum of 600,000 SEK.
