Easier to renew your permanent residence permit card

It will now be easier to renew your permanent residence permit card. You will automatically receive information and a request to book an appointment via My page well in advance of your current card expiring.

About three months before the period of validity of your permanent residence card expires, you will get a message on My page that you can book an appointment to be photographed and fingerprinted. This also applies to those who have a permanent residence card, a residence status card, a permanent residence status card or an EC/EU residence permit card.

You always need to be photographed and fingerprinted for a new card, because this information is not saved. Previously, you needed to contact the Swedish Migration Agency yourself when it was time to renew your card, but now you will automatically receive information and be able to book an appointment via My page.

To receive an email when it is time to renew your card, you need to have activated notifications on My page.
