New median salary affects the salary requirement for work permits

Statistics Sweden (SCB) has now updated the median salary in Sweden. As of 16 June, the median salary is SEK 38,300, which means that you must have a salary/wages of at least SEK 34,470 (90 per cent of the median salary) a month in order to be granted a work permit.

Every year, Statistics Sweden (SCB) updates the median salary in Sweden, i.e. the middle salary in a group of salaries sorted in order from the lowest to the highest. As of 16 June, the median salary is SEK 38,300.

In order for you to be granted a work permit in Sweden, one of the requirements is that your employment must meet the salary requirement. This means that you need to have a monthly salary or wages of at least 90 percent of the median salary published by Statistics Sweden (SCB).

The median salary published at the time you submit your application for a work permit is the one that applies. If you submit your application from 16 June, you must therefore meet the new level and have a salary or wages of at least SEK 34,470 to meet the salary requirement.

If you submitted your application before 16 June, the Swedish Migration Agency will consider it on the basis of the median salary that applied when you submitted your application.
