Requirements for using the e-service
To apply in the e-service, you must
- have an e-ID
- be able to pay the application fee with a credit card or debit card
- be able to scan or photograph the documents you need to attach.

If you cannot apply in the e-service
If you cannot apply in the e-service, you must visit one of the Swedish Migration Agency’s service centres to apply for your alien’s passport.
Fill in the application
Fill in the form (one form per person):

In addition to the application form and the documents you must attach to your application, you need to bring
- your Swedish ID card
- the application form, completed and signed (one form per person)
- a credit card or debit card to pay the application fee
- your previous alien’s passport (if you have one).
Make an appointment to submit your application
Before visiting the Swedish Migration Agency to submit your application, you must make an appointment. You must book an appointment for each person who wants to apply for an alien’s passport, and each person must submit their own application form. If a child applicant does not have any parents in Sweden, their guardian must accompany the child when they come to have their photograph and fingerprints taken.
What does it cost to apply?
Adults: SEK 750

If you have paid the wrong application fee
If you made a mistake when paying an application fee – for example, if you accidentally paid the fee twice – you can get a refund. Contact the Swedish Migration Agency to ask for your money back. If you submitted your application at an embassy or consulate-general, you should contact them instead.
When requesting a refund, you should write
- your given name and surname
- your personal identity number or date of birth
- your address
- why you want the fee refunded
- the case or control number to which the fee relates
- the bank and account number where you want the money to be deposited.
You must also attach a bank statement or receipt where it is clearly visible that you have paid a fee to the Swedish Migration Agency.
