Requirements for using the e-service
To apply in the e-service, you must
- have an e-ID
- be able to pay the application fee with a credit card or debit card
- be able to scan or photograph the documents you need to attach.

If you cannot apply in the e-service
Keep in mind that if you apply via the e-service, the waiting time will often be shorter.

If you have children under the age of 18, fill in the form:
Submit your application
Send in your application and the documents you must attach to the Swedish Migration Agency. The address is in the form.
If you are outside Sweden, you can submit the form in person to an embassy or consulate general.
Be photographed and fingerprinted
Before you can get an alien’s passports, you need to be photographed and fingerprinted. If you apply using a paper form, you will receive information from the Swedish Migration Agency via email or letter about how the visit will take place.
Pay the application fee
Once we have received your application, we will contact you via email or letter with information on how to make the payment and how much you must pay.
What does it cost to apply?
Adults: SEK 750
Children: SEK 750
If you have paid the wrong application fee
If you made a mistake when paying an application fee – for example, if you accidentally paid the fee twice – you can get a refund. Contact the Swedish Migration Agency to ask for your money back. If you submitted your application at an embassy or consulate-general, you should contact them instead.
When requesting a refund of a fee, you will need to provide the following information.
Information about you and your application:
- your given name and surname
- your personal identification number, coordination number or date of birth
- your address (with postal code, city and country)
- your telephone number and country code (e.g. +46 for Sweden)
- description of why you should get the fee back
- case number (designation number/control number)
- a bank statement or receipt clearly showing that you have paid a fee to the Swedish Migration Agency.
Information about your bank:
- name of the bank
- address of the bank (with postal code, city and country)
- account number and clearing number or equivalent
- IBAN code or BIC/SWIFT code (for banks outside Sweden)
- name of the person who owns the account.
