Be photographed and fingerprinted

Before you can get an emergency alien’s passport, you need to be photographed and fingerprinted. When you have applied, you will receive information from the Swedish Migration Agency via email or letter about how the visit will take place.

Pay the application fee

Once we have received your application, we will contact you via email or letter with information on how to make the payment and how much you must pay.

If you are abroad

If you are abroad, and need an emergency alien’s passport so that you can travel back to Sweden, you should contact a Swedish embassy or consulate-general and ask what to do.

Not all Swedish embassies and consulates-general handle migration cases, so it is important to check which one you should contact:

More information to prepare for your visit, such as information about booking an appointment, can be found on the embassies’ website:

Swedish embassies and consulates-general External link.

Adults: SEK 500
Children: SEK 500

If you made a mistake when paying an application fee – for example, if you accidentally paid the fee twice – you can get a refund. Contact the Swedish Migration Agency to ask for your money back. If you submitted your application at an embassy or consulate-general, you should contact them instead.

When requesting a refund of a fee, you will need to provide the following information.

  • your personal identification number, coordination number or date of birth
  • your address (with postal code, city and country)
