Changes for those residing in Israel who wish to apply for a visa or a residence and work permit in Sweden

As of 1 October, the embassy in Tel Aviv will no longer handle migration cases. Instead, you should contact another foreign mission in the region or within the Schengen area that handles migration cases.

If you are a citizen of Israel, or legally reside there, you have until now contacted the Swedish embassy in Tel Aviv to apply for a residence and work permit.

From October 1, 2025, you should instead personally visit another foreign mission to, for example, conduct an interview, a passport control, or submit biometric data. You can contact the Swedish foreign mission in the nearby area that suits you best. If you are an Israeli citizen, you can also contact a foreign mission within the Schengen area, as you do not need a visa to enter Schengen. You can see which foreign missions handle migration cases at Embassies responsible for migration matters.

To book an appointment or to contact a foreign mission for other inquiries, see contact information at swedenabroad.se External link..

If you have already submitted an application to the embassy in Tel Aviv and, for example, have a booked investigation or are waiting to receive your residence permit card, you will be contacted.

Schengen Visa

If you are not an Israeli citizen but reside in Israel and wish to apply for a Schengen visa, from 1 October you can submit your application at one of VFS Global's offices in the nearby area or in your country of citizenship.

Your application and passport will be sent to the foreign mission responsible for applications in the country where you apply. That foreign mission will make a decision.

The passport and decision will then be sent back to VFS Global where you can pick them up. Please note that the embassy in Tel Aviv will not be able to answer questions about Schengen visas. If you have questions, you should instead direct them to VFS Global's call center. Contact information is available on VFS Global's website External link..
