From the 12 July, people who have a permit in Sweden on the grounds of protection cannot be granted a permanent residence permit (PUT).
You have a residence permit in Sweden as a long-term resident in another EU country, or as a family member of someone with this permit. You or your partner are now pregnant or have had a baby. Here you will find information about what applies to you and what you need to do.
A child born in Sweden receives the same citizenship(s) as their parents. If you have a baby while in Sweden, you must apply for a residence permit for your child as a family member of a person with long-term resident status in another EU country.

Exemptions from the requirement for a permanent residence permit to obtain Swedish citizenship
From 12 July, as a general rule, permanent residence permits will no longer be granted. Consequently, some people with temporary residence permits may apply for Swedish citizenship without having a permanent residence permit.

Long-term residents are granted a five-year residence permit
Following legislative changes on 12 July, those who are granted long-term resident status in Sweden will no longer be issued with a permanent residence permit. Instead, you will be issued with a five-year residence permit.
