Apply for extended protection between 28 January and 4 March
The e-service to apply for extended protection under the Temporary Protection Directive is now open.
You have a residence permit under the Temporary Protection Directive and are pregnant or have had a baby.
Children born in Sweden receive the same citizenship(s) as their parents. If both parents have a residence permit under the Temporary Protection Directive, you must also apply for a residence permit under the Temporary Protection Directive for the child.
You want to apply – Protection under the Temporary Protection Directive
If one of the child’s parents/legal guardians has another type of permit in Sweden or is a Swedish citizen, other rules apply.
You want to apply – Children born in Sweden
If your child is born in Sweden, they may be listed in the Swedish Population Register together with you or their other parent/legal guardian, even though they have not had a residence permit for a full year.
However, children who were not born in Sweden cannot be listed in the Swedish Population Register until they have had a residence permit for one year. Parents who are listed in the Swedish Population Register can apply for financial aid from the Swedish Migration Agency for their child who was not born in Sweden and who cannot yet be listed in the register. In order to apply for financial aid, you must first apply for protection under the Temporary Protection Directive for the child.
