Apply for citizenship – for those 18 to 20 years of age who are Nordic citizens

Here is information on how you, as a young adult Nordic citizen 18 to 20 years of age apply for Swedish citizenship. This is called filing a notification of citizenship and you do so with the County Administrative Board.

File a notification with the County Administrative Board

You can file a notification of Swedish citizenship if you

  • are a citizen of Denmark, Finland, Island or Norway
  • are 18 to 20 years of age
  • have lived in Sweden since your 13th birthday.

All requirements must be met when the notification is filed.
